Acton Police responded to the school at 36 Charter Road in Acton for a "potentially concerning situation" on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 14, Boston25 reports citing school officials.

After a search of the campus, it was determined that no guns were present and the school was deemed safe. Classes resumed shortly after.

"Given the specificity of the anonymous report, we were able to determine that other schools were not involved and did not need to be included in our decision to shelter in place," Superintendent Peter Light said in a statement. "After consultation with police, it was determined it was not appropriate to dismiss students and was safer to have students remain in classrooms."

Light reminded families that school counselors would be available for students and that authorities will continue to investigate the situation.
